The first of the debuts. Taking its name from the BBC’s show covering choir music, Shame’s album is the polar opposite to what you’d hear via your TV. Brutal, punchy and introspective with the ability to acknowledge that they may not make it. But on the strength of their work here, they really should!

#8 Marmozets “Knowing What You Know Now”
I absolutely adore 2014’s “The Weird and the Wonderful” and it had begun to feel like we were never going to get the follow up record. I think I maybe set it up to fail for myself as I was of the opinion that it would be much higher up this list than it ended […]

#9 Deafheaven “Ordinary Corrupt Human Love”
This was actually my first experience of Deafhaven even though its their fourth album. I was blown away by the kaleidoscopic nature of the music and how the vocals became one with said music at times.

#10 – Audrey Horne “Blackouts”
Unfortunately, as much as I loved Night Flight Orchestra’s “Sometimes the World Ain’t Enough” there was only enough room on this years list for one heavily 80’s cod piece, latex and white hi-top rock inspired album and that place goes to Audrey Horne – “Blackout”

20 for 20: Dreamcast
This week the Dreamcast turned 20 in Japan, it wasn’t released here in the UK for almost another year and I wouldn’t get one for myself until a further year later, by which time SEGA had all but abandoned the console, but the little white system with the blue swirl (European region) left a massive […]

Nostalgia (Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture)
Today I begun, and finished, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture on PlayStation 4 that I’ve had sat on my account since it was “given away” via PlayStation Plus, I’m not normally one for these so-called “Walking Simulators” (I much prefer to lump them in with the interactive/visual novel genre but understand some keep the two […]

I, Tonya
A few weeks ago I made this post and this page with the intention of crossing off a bunch of movies that are regarded as “must see’s”. I was aiming for one film a week, but thus far havent watched anything on that list. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been watching any movies, some I’ve […]

Interesting Links: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
GQ: Inside the Federal Bureau of Way Too Many Guns During discussion around the massacre (because that is what it was, even if the mass media would prefer not to use that term) that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida this Valentines Day I was linked to the above GQ article. […]

OMFG Inventory Management
I’m not one for watching other people play games, especially on Twitch or whatever as I dont have that investment in genuinely knowing the person playing (and even then if someone else is having playing something and I’m with them I’ll probably end up looking at my phone or raiding the kitchen instead). But […]

Movies to See
I initially set this blog up just for Monster Hunter and whilst the very first post was indeed saying I’d started the game I didn’t really post much about it, in the roughly 24 hours since I made that post I’ve already decided I’m going to branch it out into more of a general blog. […]
